When is the BEST time to hire a home stager?

Sure - plenty of home stagers will tell you the BEST time to hire a home stager is EVERY time. But as a stager, I have found some homes need staging assistance more than others. My experience has found that just having a vacant home isn't always enough.  The strongest case for staging is made when you have a vacant property with an open floor plan - living and dining combo, or else rooms that seem small and/or confusing. That is when the furniture, art and accessories can really showcase a house and help potential buyers see it as a home.  A great example is of a home we staged in Takoma Park recently - the layout was a bit awkward as the house had been recently renovated, but some of the architectural elements of the original home were still intact. See below

The way that the rooms flow next to other make it feel like a large passageway, so our goal was to create stops where people can stop and enjoy each space. Adding furniture and decor gives each space a place to stop and enjoy the room! Check out our after home staging pictures below...

I really like the way we were able to utilize the existing daybed within the dining space - by creating a little area for reading, day dreaming, or lounging.  Now each space has purpose and potential buyers can visualize how to use the space to fit their own lifestyle. As a stager, that is the goal!

If you find yourself struggling with a small vacant space in the DC area - please be sure to consider us for staging your property! We love small space challenges and can help you sell it faster!

You all can do wonders! Just a few pieces and a little vignette can add so much to an empty room.

How is pricing for staging typically done in your area?

You're right Roslyn - making sense of awkward spaces is key when staging!

sorry for the delayed response sarah. i price base upon a few factors - amount of furniture needed, consider price of home and time it takes me to put it together. i give the realtor a price for each month - first month is typically higher because i have to pay for labor, moving guys etc. second months and later are priced lower - only really paying to rent the furniture. i go month to month - no 3 or 6 month commitment needed. it isn't for everyone but for the realtors who find it important, it is worth the effort. hope that helps!
